Gambling Addiction Site Sponsored by CCCASA

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

The Council on Addiction Recovery Education Services is reaching out to a local need—problem gambling. The CARE is a division of the Cattaraugus County Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, who recently approached Mellon & Co. to design a website to help people with gambling addictions. The website, “itsherenow.org,” is now live, and features a variety of statistics and resources for those in need of help, as well as others affected by the addiction.

Itsherenow.org” describes the various states of gambling addictions, including problem gambling, which the CCASA defines as gambling behavior that, “Causes disruptions in any major area of one’s life: psychological, physical, social or vocational.”

The Council on Addiction Recovery Education Services seeks to help people with these behaviors by informing them on both the conditions they have, and how to get help. One of the site’s sections is a “Facts,” page, that links to various sub-pages, which include “Definitions,” “Signs,” “Effects,” “Youth Gambling,” and “How to Get Help,” pages. There is also a contact number listed on every main page of the site.

Other site sections include pages dedicated to “Educators,” “Parents and Adults,” “Teens,” “Kids,” and a “Media Section.” These pages include lots of useful information for all ages.

The page is designed and maintained by Mellon & Co. Working out of offices in Olean and Ellicottville, Mellon & Co. is a Marketing and Communications company that specializes in marketing, web-design, and technical services. Mellon & Co. is also a member of the Olean, Ellicottville, and Salamanca Chambers of Commerce.

Mellon & Co offers new Business Development Division

Monday, September 15th, 2008

The Mellon & Co factory is booming right now. We have upgraded some of our current services, and added some new ones thanks to recent additions to our staff. In fact, we have opened up a whole new division, called Business Development, under the leadership of our newest employee, Bob Price.

Bob has an extensive business and tech background. Coming to us from Ingram Micro, Bob got his start at the Pittsburgh Technical Institute. Since then, he has been a Systems Engineer for Hyperion Telecommunications, a Senior Systems Engineer at Adelphia Business Solutions, a Senior Systems Delivery Manager at Telcove, and an IT Infrastructure Manager. Bob has lived and worked in various countries, including Germany. These positions and experiences have fostered a whole gamut of technical abilities in Bob. He is skilled in telecommunications, tech services, sales, network security, and infrastructure work. Now, Mellon & Co is letting Bob spearhead a new division that could really benefit your business.

This new Business Development division is intended to go above and beyond what we are currently offering. Yes, we will still offer all of our Web Design, Marketing, and Technical Services. But we’re adding a lot. We’re looking to expand our work on hardware for you, including monitor(s) and server work, as well as WiFi (wireless internet) installations and transitions. We want to help you secure your business with camera implementation, virus control, routers, and switches. In case something should go wrong, we are now offering more disaster recovery services, so you will always be prepared for a natural disaster, or power outage.

Aside from the purely technical advancements, we are also offering some new services to help your company grow to its full potential. These include corporate identity services, which entail logo creation, graphic illustration, and branding, as well as business consultation for company growth and efficiency; and the list goes on. From government and audit compliances, to data center, commercial, and home wiring services, Mellon & Co has lots of new services for you to look into. That’s why we’re the ideas company.

Mellon & Co Adds New Team Members:

Monday, September 15th, 2008

As the summer ends, Mellon & Co is entering a new season as well. We have recently seen the addition of four new members, bringing lots of new talent to the company. Some of this talent will translate into new services to our customers.

Our first new installment was John Loyd. A recent graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College, John has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication. With a history in freelance writing, he has had work published by the Democrat & Chronicle, the Batavia Daily News, and the Olean Times Herald. John has joined the team as a copy writer. His work is also focused primarily in Search Engine Optimization.

Beth Jankowski brings a diverse range of experiences and abilities to the company. Originally from Kenmore, Beth moved to Olean with her husband, Petty Officer Mike Jankowski MM1(SS), and their dog, Zephyr. Military moves have had Beth traveling everywhere from Virginia Beach to New Hampshire. She took advantage of her different locations by gaining a wide variety of management experience. Beth has done everything from Barista training to customer service, hiring employees, and bookkeeping. Most recently she worked as the Store Manager for Dunkin Donuts, in Olean. Beth is also the Command Naval Ombudsman for NRD Pittsburgh. In this role, she volunteers as a liaison between the military and military families. She joins us in the way of Human Resources, and Administrative Assistant work.

Bob Price joins Mellon & Co with work history that matches Beth’s in location and diversity. Bob is originally from Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He graduated with a Specialized Technology degree from the Pittsburgh Technical Institute, and recently Bob worked in Buffalo for Ingram Micro. Bob has worked in telecommunications, infrastructure, tech services, sales, network security, and even “help desks,” dealing with customer service repair issues. Bob will be heading up our new Business Development division, which you can read more about in our other blog entry.

Working with Bob is Krystle Loomis. Hailing from Montrose, PA, Krystle began work in journalism when she was 15. She began with the High School Media Chronicle. Krystle then had work published in the Press and Sun Bulletin in Binghamton, NY, as well as Business First in Buffalo, and more locally, The Villager. Journalism brought Krystle to the area, as she got her BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from Saint Bonaventure University. During her last year at Bonaventure, Krystle got into marketing work, as a way of diversifying herself. Krystle said marketing was a way to do “something new and exciting every day, and use those skills,” that she had developed in her journalism work. Now she works for Mellon & Co as an Account Executive and Marketing Associate.

We have also had several changes with current personnel, including the promotion of Rachel Blovsky. Rachel is now the position of Marketing Communications Director.
